  • Huh. On the #Firefox scrolling thing, it's in a #lynx-style mode where the arrow keys go from link to link. I imagine I did that. Switch? #

I have an entire in-depth Fringe post to write — but I’m not in a huge hurry to write it, unless it will be a huge crowd favorite.  (No?  Didn’t think so.)

Help?  Anyone?  I even looked through about:config (no idea if that will link properly) but couldn’t figure it out.  It’s getting obnoxious.

I rather like this comment.  It’s like a Twerbose for posterity.  And I control it all.  Bwahaha!

From what I’ve read, it seems like FOX was more than fair with Dollhouse. It’s quite possible that they were only behaving fairly because they didn’t want to appear to be malicious (which, after the Firefly debacle, they certainly would if they put the screws to Joss again). Dollhouse had all of it’s episodes shown in the correct order, it wasn’t constantly pre-empted, it got a second season that it’s ratings didn’t really justify and it seems like they’re being given a chance to wrap up the series. I’ve heard some people complain about the “Friday night death slot”, but Fridays are traditionally pretty kind to sci-fi or offbeat shows (as a sci-fi fan, I’ll refrain from the depressing analysis of why sci-fi can thrive on a night that most other genres dread). For whatever reason, Dollhouse just never found an audience.

If anything, I’d say that Warner Brothers screwed Whedon on Buffy and Angel way worse than FOX did on Dollhouse. Both shows were doing well in the ratings when the WB decided to stop airing them. Buffy found another network (UPN), but it’s budget was slashed and it never really recovered (it was arguably already going downhill, but it really reached terminal velocity during seasons 6 and 7). Angel just stopped.

So if Joss has worked for two networks, and they’ve both screwed him, who is it that appreciates the Jossverse? The fans do, obviously, but they’re not going to finance his projects and start a network on which to show them. There might be someone out there that can do right by him, but it’s all speculation at this point.

Also, that dude is as bad at writing comic books as he is good at writing television.

The bad apostrophe in “its” has long been my bane. Under normal circumstances I go over my comments after I’ve written them in order to remove the offending punctuation, but I was in a bit of a rush and didn’t have the time. You’ll note that I caught it almost immediately after posting, though.
