See you next what?

I remember when it used to not be a big deal to fall.  Ah, nostalgia!

Combine equal parts: can of shaving cream lying on side in doorway; two stairsteps down to ground; bare feet.  Step until oh, fuuuuuuuuuck.

Clearly our minds are not focused on the same things, because when I read “See You Next…” my first thought is not “Fall” but something else.

Funny.  Not nearly as funny as your grilled cheese joke, but funny.

By the way, I first heard “See You Next Tuesday” on broadcast TV — an episode of American Dad.  I was reminded of this experience in an episode of Dexter I just watched — a show in which F-bombs make up every third word — when the line “You’re kind of a cunt, aren’t you?” was still profoundly jarring to my ear.  But given the amount that the censors miss on the first airings of Seth’s shows, that shouldn’t be entirely surprising (they failed to miss Quagmire’s rape of Marge Simpson and his subsequent murder of the rest of the Simpson family, however — that only showed up on the DVDs.)

By the way, I found out that mcgees.org is blocked in the free web browsing stations at K-Mart, because all the blog pages have the word “sex” on them — in the goddamned category tabulation in the sidebar.  Actually, I guess I could freely use something harsher than “goddamned”, given that I’m blocked anyway.

This is not a kids’ site.  That’s why it is so difficult to keep the children with dead hamsters sequestered in their own little bubble.

I’m going to guess that Fox’s censors probably let is slide because the sort of people who write angry letters aren’t the sort to get the joke. Unless it was done in an uncommonly obvious way (“You’re a ‘see you next Tuesday’”), they probably figured it was safe. I was still impressed that they got away with the following on Arrested Development:

Michael Bluthe: “Get rid of the Seaward.”

I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised, though, as that was one of the jokes least likely to get complaints on that show.
