In possibly related news, about halfway through the walk until about two hours after my return home was the first time I wasn’t thinking about a shot of Dilaudid in I-don’t-know-how-long. A certain course of action suggests itself.

YAY! A nice long walk AND some relief. That sounds great!
Enjoy it while you can. As someone who used to walk a lot in the San Gabriel Valley, I can tell you that walking around in August (especially for a dude whose wardrobe is made up largely of denim and flannel) is masochistic / borderline suicidal.
Not sure if the iframes will work, but:
My Walk Yesterday (2.7 miles)
My Walk Today (5.7 miles)
especially for a dude whose wardrobe is made up largely of denim and flannel
LIBELOUS! Denim, flannel, corduroy, and canvas, by Jove!
Wow! Wow! Wow! Fantastic! Very nice, Josh. Are you still feeling some positive effects from the walk?
Today: 1.7 miles (weak!)
I forgot what my walk was yesterday. Today it was this (1.8 mi):

Slightly less weak.
