New, inexpensive camera
I got a new, cheap 7.1 megapixel camera, which I think will pay for itself in increased eBay sales. Here is one of my first pictures, when Sebastian offered to help test the “Macro” mode:

My favorite comment so far: “Nice shot of a beautiful kitty! He looks like he’s being very helpful.”

Which camera is it? How much does it cost? And still happy with it?

Everyone, this is my good friend Arno from the Netherlands!
It is a Canon PowerShot A570 IS. Its list price is US$200, and I got it for US$140 from Amazon
. It takes great pictures.
There is one big problem I’ve encountered: the battery compartment is on the bottom of the camera, and the batteries slide up into the unit. When the door to the compartment is opened, if the camera is upright, the batteries fall out. But: you have to open the compartment to retrieve the SD memory card! So, if the camera is on a tripod, you either have to invert the tripod or take the camera off its mount to get the memory card out.
Someone has suggested wedging a folded piece of paper in-between the batteries to keep this from happening, but I am of the mind that it is a design flaw (although another engineer and more experienced photographer is adamant there is no flaw…)
